Emergency Information

If You Experience Flu-Like Symptoms
It is recommended for students and staff with flu-like illness to stay home for 24 hours after fever or chills resolve without use of fever-reducing medications. A physician’s note is not necessary for previously ill children or staff to return to school. Healthcare resources during a pandemic will likely be overwhelmed, plus it is not advisable to congregate in places with many ill people, such as a doctor’s office or a healthcare facility. Students and staff with flu-like illness and who are at high risk for complications should speak with their health care provider as soon as possible. People at high-risk of complications include: those who are pregnant, have asthma, diabetes, underlying heart or lung disease, or have compromised immune systems.

We are doing everything we can to keep our schools functioning as usual, including disinfecting classrooms and locker rooms well. Dispensers with hand sanitizer are installed in every classroom. 

Here are a few things you can do to help:

  • Encourage your children to wash their hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Teach your children not to share personal items like drinks, food or unwashed utensils, and to cover their coughs and sneezes with tissues. Covering up their coughs or sneezes using the elbow, arm or sleeve instead of the hand is acceptable when a tissue is unavailable.
  • Know the signs and symptoms of the flu. Symptoms of the flu include fever (100 degrees Fahrenheit, 37.8 degrees Celsius or greater), cough, sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache and feeling very tired. Some people may also vomit or have diarrhea.

In the Event of an Emergency
Cornerstone and Pusch Ridge are prepared to initiate the appropriate response to ensure the safety of everyone on campus. Drills are conducted on a regular basis through out the year. Such plans include information for faculty, staff and students on the following:

  • Fire Emergency Procedures
  • Emergency Communications
  • Lock-Down Procedures
  • On and off-Campus Evacuation Plans      

Emergency Communications
Through RenWeb, parents will receive notification via cell phones and emails in case of emergency on either campus.

Listed below are media outlets that will be contacted with emergency information:

  • AM radio stations: KNST 790, KVOI 690, KFLT 830
  • Television stations: KGUN 9, KVOA 4, KOLD 13

Please note that we cannot guarantee that the radio and television stations we contact will broadcast information.

Emergency Contact Information
Please notify the school with any changes to the emergency contact number that you provided the school on your child's Emergency Medical Form. Please keep all emergency information updated at the school for your family throughout the year.
